Truly Canadian

They say gold is where you find it. Long before the Edmonton Waterloo Mercurys won their gold medal at the 1952 Olympic Games and ever since then, pond hockey was being played by most all Canadians. An Olympic Gold medal was the reward for a group of Edmonton Hockey Players who took their talents and commitment to excellence over to Oslo, Norway and represented Canada for world hockey supremacy.

Although Canada has not won a hockey gold medal since 1952 at the Olympics, the back yards, streets

and ponds of Canada produce gold medal games daily in the hearts and minds of our youngsters in a game that is truly Canadian.

Truly Canadian by Edmonton artist Tag Kim is dedicated to Sport Central and its volunteers who since 1991 have worked to guarantee that all youngsters have the opportunity to pursue their goals by Assisting the Kid in Sport.
