A goalie’s blocker is the glove in which the goaltender holds his stick, usually in the right hand; it has a flat pad on the front to block shots. The blocker needs to be fit well enough so the goalie is able to pick his or her stick up off the ice with relative ease.
Proper Blocker Fit
A blocker should be fit based on hand size. A goalie should be able to pick up a non-taped goal stick cleanly off the floor. The goalie's fingers should be no more than 1/4" from the end of the fingers in the palm. If the fingers are too long, the hand tabs that tie down the palm to the blocker will be too large. This will cause the blocker to wobble, tilt, or rotate on the goaltender's hand, which seriously affects control and limits coverage (blocking surface).
