> Browse Goal Equipment

To make that snapshot save, reminiscent of good ol’ Roloson, you’ll need a decent trapper. Drop on by the United Cycle Goal Loft and take a look through our selection of 35 different models ranging in size from youth to intermediate to senior pro.

Generally, goalies tend to wear their blocker on the right hand and the trapper (or catcher glove) on the left hand, but ask if you are full right (opposite).

Although the trend at all levels is towards oversized gloves, the goalie's fingers should extend to the end of the fingerstalls of the inside palm to ensure a proper fit. However, any more than a 1/4" from the tip of the goal tender's finger to the end of the finger stalls, and the goal tender will not have the leverage needed to properly close and control the glove (pocket).

Aside from the lack of control, the glove will also have a tendency to "break back" or fold, which will make the glove difficult to use. The heel of your hand should line up with the heel and cuff of the catcher. If not, the proper balance between the cuff and catching portion of the glove may be disturbed, making the glove too cumbersome while sacrificing protection.
